BGAT Verse Breakdown: La Speaks Volumes "Black Girls/ All Types" Part II

La Speaks Volumes is not only a highly educated woman pursuing her PhD but also a passionate educator of all ages across multiple art forms. Her verse breakdown targets how striving for excellence is as innate as breathing and is almost a pre-requisite to gain confidence in this world as a Black woman. Add to that, Black excellence is a survival skill developed through our simple existence.

 In La's part 1 interview, we found out how she was already proving the system gatekeepers wrong at kindergarten-age. Her story highlights how Black women and people do not need to prove themselves with degrees or industry recognition or tests to know our high capabilities (but still do). Just look at the statistics and history of what they've accomplished despite the odds stacked against them? The evidence speaks for itself. And I usually hate to say it but, in this case...La is just another statistic of that. PERIOD.
